The Ultimate Goddess Yoga Asana

You guessed it.

GODDESS POSE
Uttkatakonasana
OOT- Ka- Ta- Con- Asana

Invoking the goddess.

This asana helps the student to build strong foundations whilst feeling grounded and omnipotent. The pose forms an integral part of the moon salutations or Chandra Namaskar.

The space between the hands simulating the power of the moon, lunar force or sacred feminine energy that we can harness and possess as our own.

This yoga position stretches and tones the core whilst strengthening the legs and creating balance in the upper body. Helps to realign the hips and pelvis and strengthen the knees.

A feel good asana for both sexes but especially empowering for women even more so when practiced at the times of the new/full moon and during menstruation. This is also an extremely therapeutic asana for women during the 3rd trimester of pregnancy and can help prepare the body for birth.

HOW TO
To perform spread the legs nice and wide with the heels turned in and the toes turned out. Bend into the knees. The knees should be stacked above the heels.

Press the feet firmly down into the floor.
Tuck the tail bone under and tip the pelvis forward.

Open the chest easing the arms out to the side with the elbows in a direct line with the shoulders so that the hands come in above the elbow and point the fingers to the sky.

Spreading the toes to grip the mat or the ground for extra balance.
